Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and ChangeGist, run by an independent developer in the United Kingdom. By creating an account you agree to them. If something here is unclear, email [email protected].

1. What ChangeGist does

ChangeGist checks the public web pages you choose on a schedule and tells you when they change, with a short summary. Summaries are written automatically, partly by AI, and can occasionally be wrong or miss something. Always check the page itself before making an important decision.

2. Your account

• You need to give a real email address and keep your password and two-factor codes safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
• You must be at least 18, or using ChangeGist for a business you're allowed to act for.
• One account per person. Please don't create extra accounts to get more free trials; we may close them.

3. Acceptable use

You may only monitor pages that are publicly available without logging in. You agree not to:

• use ChangeGist in a way that breaks the law or a website's terms that apply to you;
• monitor sites that promote hatred or violence, sell illegal drugs, or spread malware, or use ChangeGist for fraud;
• use it to collect personal data about individuals. If any page you monitor contains personal data, you are responsible for handling it lawfully;
• try to overload, attack, hack, scrape or reverse-engineer ChangeGist, or get around its limits;
• resell, sublicense, frame or mirror the service, or share your account, without our written permission.

ChangeGistBot only visits public pages, never solves CAPTCHAs and never tries to get around tools that block automated visitors. Read how it behaves. If a website owner asks us to stop visiting their site, we will, and pages on that site will be paused for everyone.

Some large platforms (such as eBay and Amazon) limit automated visits in their own terms. We check pages on those sites gently and less often, cap how many you can watch, and may stop checking them at any time. You are responsible for making sure your use of any site is allowed by that site's terms.

We can pause monitoring of a page, or suspend an account, if it's used in a way that breaks these rules or causes problems for others.

4. Free trial, plans and payment

• New accounts get a 7-day free trial. No card is needed. When it ends, checks pause until you choose a plan.
• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribe. Prices may change; we'll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you.
• You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
• Payments aren't refunded for partly used months, except where the law requires it.
• If a payment fails, we'll ask you to update your card. If it still can't be collected, checks pause.

5. Availability

We work hard to keep ChangeGist running, but we can't promise it will always be available, that every change will be caught, or that alerts will arrive at a particular time. Some websites block automated checks, and we can't monitor those.

6. Your content and ours

You keep any rights you have in the information you add. You give us permission to use it only to provide the service. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. The ChangeGist service, name and website belong to us.

7. Liability

ChangeGist is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

If a claim is made against us because of how you used ChangeGist in breach of these terms (for example, monitoring a site in a way its terms forbid), you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.

8. Ending the agreement

You can stop using ChangeGist and ask us to delete your account at any time. We can end the service for you with 30 days' notice, or immediately if you seriously break these terms. If we end it without cause, we'll refund any unused paid period.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use ChangeGist afterwards means you accept the new terms.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts will handle any dispute. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you can also use your local courts.
